Suzhou’s Wujiang District ranks 8th in the list of China’s top 100 districts in terms of investment competitiveness in 2022 released by CCID Consulting Urban Economic Research Center on Dec. 2. Wuzhong District, Gusu District, and Huqiu District, other three competitive districts in Suzhou, also made the list, ranking 12th, 59th and 75th respectively, fully demonstrating the city’s strong investment competitiveness and high-quality economic development level.
The list was compiled based on an assessment of 900-plus districts under the jurisdiction of prefecture-level cities around the country, involving 20 indexes in 6 dimensions -- government services, openness, basic environment, industrial vitality, talent attraction, and guarantee of production factors.
According to the list, China’s top 10 districts are Tianhe District of Guangzhou, Futian District of Shenzhen, Bao’an District of Shenzhen, Nanshan District of Shenzhen, Shunde District of Foshan, Yuhang District of Hangzhou, Jiangning District of Nanjing, Wujiang District of Suzhou, Longgang District of Shenzhen and Jinshui District of Zhengzhou.
As a bellwether for Jiangsu’s private economy, Wujiang District has made continuous efforts to optimize the business environment with a series of targeted measures to stimulate the vitality of market players. The district, which is favored by investors and entrepreneurs, is home to more than 1,500 foreign-funded enterprises, 16 Fortune Global 500 enterprises, and a large number of central and state-owned enterprises.
